Olivia, pictured with Helen Mary R, is getting ready for an unforgettable offshore sailing adventure with Roseland Youth Sailing Trust (RYST). We are delighted to be supporting her through our joint sponsorship with Fine & Country Mid West Cornwall.
The 10-day voyage, operated by
Morvargh Sailing Project, departs from Fowey on 1 August and will provide ten young people from Cornwall with a unique opportunity to experience life at sea, develop new skills, build confidence and create lifelong memories. Helen Mary R is the UK's only Bowman 57 ft sail training vessell, which was designed by Holman & Pye and built by Southern Boatbuilding Company for the Rona Sailing Project. She was launched in 1986 and spent her first 24 years delivering Sail Training voyages before joining Morvargh Sailing Project in 2010.
Olivia has a strong connection with the sea and the local community. She volunteers on the farm at The Lost Gardens of Heligan and hopes to work with animals in the future. Having learnt to sail at Percuil with RYST when she was at Gorran Primary School and for many years as part of the Gorran Gig Team, she is looking forward to the challenge and adventure ahead.
Olivia said:
"I love wildlife and animals and currently volunteer at The Lost Gardens of Heligan on the farm. I hope to see some marine wildlife on this trip as I want to work with animals when I am older. I also hope to meet new people, learn new things and get an opportunity to challenge myself."
In a personal note to her sponsors, Olivia added:
"Thank you for sponsoring this sailing trip. I feel this is going to be an incredible experience and will boost my confidence."
Established for over 100 years in St Mawes, H Tiddy has long supported RYST and plays an active role in the local community. Last year, the business expanded through the acquisition of the Fine & Country Mid West Cornwall licence, extending its marketing reach from Port Isaac on Cornwall's North Coast to the Isles of Scilly, while retaining H Tiddy as its trusted local brand on The Roseland and welcoming three experienced local associates to the team.
Mark Willson, Co-owner and Director of H Tiddy and Fine & Country Mid West Cornwall, said:
"For the sixth consecutive year, we are proud to support a young person on a life-changing offshore sailing adventure and we wish Olivia every success. Having seen the experiences of Bea (2021), Wilf (2022), Skye (2023), Phoebe (2024) and Archie (2025), I am sure Olivia and all the venturers will return from their voyage with increased confidence, new skills, lasting friendships and memories that will stay with them for years to come."
Francis Hallawell, Trustee of Roseland Youth Sailing Trust, said:
"The support of sponsors such as H Tiddy and Fine & Country is fundamental to what RYST seeks to achieve. Our aim is to help young people fulfil their potential through sailing and maritime experiences, building confidence, resilience and life skills that will benefit them long after they return ashore. We are delighted that Olivia will be joining this year's expedition and thank H Tiddy and Fine & Country for making it possible."
Roseland Youth Sailing Trust believes that sailing has the power to change lives by helping young people develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and communication skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Everyone at H Tiddy and Fine & Country Mid West Cornwall wishes Olivia, her fellow venturers and the crew of Helen Mary R fair winds and an unforgettable adventure.
