Profound and Utterly Unforgettable.

Profound and Utterly Unforgettable.

That's the verdict from Phoebe and her fellow crew members in the log of their 10 day offshore sailing voyage with the Roseland Youth Sailing Trust. Phoebe is the latest young person to be sponsored by H Tiddy on this incredible voyage of discovery.

2024 is the fourth year the Trust has organised offshore sailing for young people aged 16 to 18 living in Cornwall and H Tiddy have sponsored a young person in each of these four years. The aim is for venturers to build confidence, learn new skills and discover new things about themselves at the start of their adult lives.

This year’s expedition was on Morvargh Sailing Project’s Bowman 57-foot sail training vessel Helen Mary R. On day one four crew, two watch leaders and ten young people gathered at Fowey on a Thursday morning in a typical Cornish mizzle for final training. The following day the intrepid sailors departed from Fowey at 4.00am to be greeted by a small pod of dolphins as the sun rose. That evening they arrived in Guernsey and in the following days visited St Malo and Roscoff. They returned into St Mawes after a voyage of 395 nautical miles.

They’d said they wanted dolphins, and they got them; plus shooting stars, hot sunshine, trips to Guernsey, St Malo and Roscoff and two great sailing days when the wind finally picked up.

Mark Wilson, Director of H Tiddy commented "It's wonderful to see how much the young people get out of these sailing adventures. Its a privilege to be able to support our local community"
