A View Like No Other: A Fond Farewell to RNLI Falmouth’s Lifeboat
We’re incredibly lucky to have an office overlooking St Mawes harbour, where the sea is always full of stories. Today, we witnessed a particularly special moment—the retirement of RNLI Falmouth’s Severn-class lifeboat, Richard Cox Scott, after 23 years of heroic service.
One of the greatest privileges of our office overlooking St Mawes harbour is the ever-changing, always-inspiring view. Today, we were reminded just how lucky we are as we witnessed a moment of maritime history—the retirement of RNLI Falmouth’s Severn-class lifeboat, Richard Cox Scott.
After 23 years of dedicated service, she made her final departure, and we had the honour of waving her off. Since her arrival at Falmouth, she has launched on service over 500 times, with the volunteer crew saving 12 lives in her care. It’s hard to overstate the courage and commitment of those who serve aboard these lifeboats, braving treacherous conditions to bring others to safety.
Seeing Richard Cox Scott leave today was both poignant and humbling—a reminder of the incredible work the RNLI does and the deep connection between Cornwall and the sea. From our vantage point, we will continue to watch the lifeboats come and go, knowing that each journey could mean the difference between life and death.
Fair winds and following seas, Richard Cox Scott. Thank you for your service. 🚤💙
