Last week, H Tiddy welcomed a select group of well-connected business people, buying agents and Fine & Country associates to St Mawes for a curated showcase of some of the village’s most exceptional homes, perfectly timed to coincide with the prestigious St Mawes Classic Car Festival and Concours d’Elegance.
What an incredible day!
The aim of the event was simple: to introduce St Mawes to potential buyers who may not already know the village as a destination and to position St Mawes alongside some of the country’s most recognised prime coastal markets, including Sandbanks, Rock and Salcombe.
Guests viewed an extraordinary collection of homes, including exclusive off-market opportunities, all set against the backdrop of the harbour, coastline and surrounding National Trust countryside, all within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, that make St Mawes so unique.
A Curated Tour of Exceptional Coastal Homes
The day began with lunch and refreshments at Penolva, currently on the market for £8,500,000, an exceptional waterfront residence where royalty once walked, before continuing to a selection of prime coastal homes including Long Summers (£4,250,000) and two off-market properties, showcasing the breadth and quality of property available within the village.
As the afternoon unfolded, guests joined the Concours d’Elegance on the quay, where the atmosphere, community spirit and warmth of St Mawes were on full display. The event brought together classic cars, well-known personalities, residents, visitors and business owners in a way that perfectly captured the character of the village.
Celebrating the Spirit of St Mawes
Following the prize giving, guests enjoyed a memorable Cockwells luxury boat and champagne tour around the bay and harbour, providing a spectacular perspective of the coastline and waterfront homes, before the day concluded with the classic cars parading through the village streets. Proceeds from the event supported Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.

Mark Willson on the Vision Behind the Event
Reflecting on the event, Mark Willson, Director of H Tiddy Independent Estate Agents and Fine & Country Mid West Cornwall, commented: “The purpose of the day was not simply to showcase property, but to highlight St Mawes itself. Recognising that buying agents often influence where their clients choose to search, we wanted to demonstrate what makes our village so special.
Since acquiring the Fine & Country licence for Mid West Cornwall last year, I felt the time was right to use the exceptional reach and media exposure of the brand to place St Mawes firmly on both the national and international stage. For many years, St Mawes has remained something of a hidden gem, often quietly protected by those fortunate enough to know it well, including members of the Royal Family. However, with its extraordinary waterfront homes, renowned microclimate, proven long-term house price growth and unique community spirit, I believe it deserves recognition alongside the country’s most established prime coastal destinations.
St Mawes has an enchanting quality. It is welcoming, incredibly beautiful and underpinned by a strong sense of community spirit within its own enclave. Combined with a proven track record of long-term house price growth and an increasingly limited supply of prime waterfront homes, it continues to stand out as one of the most compelling coastal destinations in the country. With a current average house price of around £1.478 million and house price growth of approximately 74% over the last five years, St Mawes has significantly outperformed many established prime coastal markets. Importantly, the village has also demonstrated remarkable resilience during periods of wider market correction.
I would also like to thank my team for the exhaustive amount of work behind the scenes to ensure the day went so smoothly.”
Industry Feedback Following the Showcase
The response from guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on both the quality of the homes and the unique atmosphere of the village itself.
Edward Taylor, Director and Owner of Fine & Country Marlborough and Devizes and South-West Regional Representative for the National Advisory Council, commented afterwards: “What an incredible day. Viewing £30m worth of property with local Fine & Country colleagues, ending with a classic car festival on the quay and a fabulous boat tour. The properties we viewed offered some truly jaw-dropping views. Our host Mark Willson demonstrated incredible depth and breadth of knowledge of the area, its properties and people. Amazing thanks to Cockwells Modern and Classic Boatbuilding for the boat tour and Hotel Tresanton for the champagne!”
Stuart Donnington and Poppy Field of Fine & Country Plymouth and Salcombe also reflected positively on the day afterwards: "Poppy and I both really enjoyed it and took a lot from the day. Mark and his team are clearly very knowledgeable and the go-to agent in St Mawes.”
Willie Tuckett, buying agent, added: “Thanks for a very interesting day. Much appreciated all the effort Mark and his team went to enlighten us. Good to meet some interesting people.”
Andrew Simpson, Board Director at Webbers Property Services, also commented afterwards: “A truly inspirational afternoon with our Fine & Country St Mawes team getting a real insight into their market. We had a tour of some highly exclusive homes made even more special as it coincided with the classic car festival. Being looked after by Mark we also enjoyed a boat tour around the fabulous bay for the best views.”
Reinforcing the Strength of the St Mawes Market
The event reinforced not only the strength of the prime St Mawes market, but also the importance of introducing the village to influential buyers, business people and buying agents who did not fully appreciate everything it has to offer.
